Today it’s exactly 156 years ago that Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) made up the ‘Alice’ tale.
The first version of the story arose on 4 July 1862 during a boat trip with Alice Liddell and her sisters.
It would later evolve into a longer tale called “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground”, which eventually became published in book form as “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. The first edition was printed on 4 July 1865 – exactly 3 years later.
